Terminal offline: how to keep taking payments

If the terminal can’t transmit a transaction to the card issuer (for example, due to a communications issue or the issuer being unavailable), it may switch into electronic fallback (EFB) mode.

  • EFB transactions require a signature.
  • You may see response code “08 Approved with signature”.

Keep the terminal powered on (and keep mobile devices on charge), as offline transactions will be submitted automatically once the terminal is back online.

If you’re using a Move5000, you can also try forcing submission by selecting ADMIN → REPEATS on the terminal.

For more detail, please reference your terminal user manual.
